Dallas-area high school wins Wiley College debate tournament | Events
Byron Nelson High School of Trophy Club, Texas, was the overall winner of the Melvin B. Tolson/Denzel Washington Great Debater Forensics Tournament, which was hosted by Wiley College on December 7 and 8. The tournament will become an annual event at the college.
Students from 14 cities across Texas and Louisiana met in Marshall, Texas to compete in 12 events at “The Home of the Great Debaters.” Schools submitted 184 entries to the tournament and a total of 128 students competed in the tournament.
Schools that participated in the tournament were: Berkner High School of Richardson, Tx; Brownsboro High School of Brownsboro,Tx; Byron Nelson High School of Trophy Club, Tx; Captain Shreve High School of Shreveport,LA; Chapel Hill High School of Mt. Pleasant, Tx; Gilmer High School of Gilmer,Tx; Hallsville High School of Hallsville,Tx; Hooks High School of Hooks, Tx; Lewisville High School of Lewisville,Tx; Parish Episcopal School of Dallas, Tx; Pleasant Grave High School of Texarkana,Tx; Royce City High School of Royce City, Texas; Van High School of Van, Texas; and White House High School of White House, Texas.
