Harrison Co. school districts prepping for crisis situations | Crime
Story by David Weaver, Communications Officer for Marshall ISD
Superintendents for Harrison County school districts met with local law enforcement and emergency management personnel on Wednesday to begin a working dialogue in order to better prepare schools and first responders in the event of crisis situations.
Superintendents and representatives from Marshall, Hallsville, Elysian Fields, Harleton, Karnack and Waskom were present, along with representatives from local police and fire departments. The meeting was held in the Lecture Hall of the MISD Administration Building.
“The purpose of this initial meeting was just to sit down and begin a collaborative discussion and effort to improve ways to improve our security and emergency response at schools in Harrison County,” said Dr. Marc Smith, Marshall ISD Superintendent. “I thought the meeting was productive and we will continue to work with each other and the emergency management personnel and law enforcement available to us to enhance the safety and security at our campuses.”
A second meeting has tentatively been planned for later this spring.
