Raccoon Hunt to benefit Cystic Fibrosis | Community Spirit
Title (Max 100 Characters)
The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation is hosting its 27th annual Raccoon Hunt on February 22 & 23 at the Cass County Expo Building in Atlanta, Texas.
Participants from across the area will 'tree' raccoons with their dogs in an allotted amount of time. The raccoons will be set free after the top prize is awarded.
There will also be an all-you-can-eat homemade barbeque cookout along with a live and silent auction.
The first Raccoon Hunt was in 1985. Dexter Whatley, along with family and friends, created the event to help his daughter who has Cystic Fibrosis. All money raised from the event helps fund research that will hopefully develop a cure for the disease. Over the years, the average life expectancy for a person with the disease was 24. It is now just over 37.
If you have questions about the event, call Dexter Whatley at 903-799-5406 or Patsy Whatley at 903-748-8959.
